TRACEY LYNN REUS ARREDONDO, beloved wife, mother, daughter and sister, lost a 15-month battle with an aggressive brain tumor on Monday, May 26th, 2025 at the age of 56. She was born on May 21st, 1969 in San Marcos, Texas to her parents, Ray and Karen Eggen Reus. The young family moved to San Antonio when Tracey was one month old and lived there for the rest of her life.
Tracey attended elementary, middle and high school in Northside ISD, graduating from Clark High School in 1987. She attended Texas Tech University, a travel agency school and finally fulfilled a 20-year goal by receiving a Bachelor of Science Degree in Occupational Education, emphasizing in Language Interpretation from Wayland Baptist University. She also held down a part time job with a telephone answering service, simultaneously while continuing her education. She taught for more than 24 years in NISD before her illness forced her to retire. She loved her work, her students, her fellow team members at school, and her family.
Tracey was a member of Colonial Hills United Methodist Church in her younger years. She was a member of the church youth choir with which she made several annual summer tour trips. She was fortunate to travel with a group of Clark High School students & teachers to England and Germany. She also made several trips with her family to various points of interest in the USA.
Tracey always had a positive attitude, showed concern and compassion for others and always put others first, regardless of any hardship or inconvenience it might have caused her.
Tracey was preceded in death by her grandparents, Houston and Leora Horger Eggen who were of Hondo, Rudolph and Lenora Halty Reus who were of LaCoste, aunt Anna Beth Eggen Wynne and uncle Malcolm Reus who were of San Antonio, uncle Rodney Reus who was of LaCoste, and cousin Cindy Reus who was of Bandera.
She is survived by her husband of 36 years, Ruben; sons, Julian (Karen) and Riley; parents, Ray and Karen Eggen Reus; brother, Todd (Denise) Reus; nieces and nephew, Maci, Aaden & Addison; Aunt Sally Reus; and Uncle Robert & Aunt Rita Reus; and many cousins, teaching teammates and students. There are no words to describe the void that has been left in our hearts and lives.
Celebration of her life will be at the Guinn Funeral Home Chapel in Hondo on Saturday, May 31, visitation from 9:30 to 10:30 and service at 10:30 a.m., followed by interment at Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section.
