Urban Carter Greathouse, age 90, of Hondo passed away Monday, June 29, 2009. He was born May 12, 1919, in Springfield, Missouri, son of Samuel and Stella (Jones) Greathouse. Urban was an oilfield compressor mechanic. He was preceded in death by his parents; and by his wife, Opal Corlee (Flessa) Greathouse in August 2008. Urban is survived by his daughters, Lynda Deanna Strouhal and husband Oswald of West Columbia and Janice V. Oefinger and husband Larry of Hondo; five granddaughters and 11 great-grandchildren. Graveside service will be held at 9 a.m. Friday, July 3, 2009, with Pastor David Mayer officiating. Interment will be at Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section.
