Velda Eldora Boone Workman, age 77, of Quihi passed away Friday, April 29, 2016. Born in Tampico TX, September 17, 1938, she was the daughter of Marvin Alton and Gladys Elois Burleson Boone. She graduated from Lockey High School in 1956. She attended North Texas State University where she studied piano and was a member of Chi Omega Sorority. She worked in the financial industry in San Francisco, CA for over 30 years. She retired as an executive assistant and office manager at Media Venture Partners, an investment banking firm, in 2005. After retirement, she moved from San Francisco to Quihi, TX. She enjoyed gardening, helping her grandson with his FFA projects, decorating her beautiful home, and living in the country with her chickens and cats. Velda was a member of the Hill Country Master Gardeners and the SIlver Sneakers group at FitWell Gym in Castroville. Velda was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Lisa Roxanne Workman; brother, Marvin Lafayette Boone; sister-in-law, Patsy Fortenberry Boone; and sister, Lila Dean Woods. Survivors include her son, Jeffrey S. (Janice) Workman of Sammamish WA; daughter, Lesley (Randy) Wreyford of San Antonio; grandchildren Jarrett Workman, Wayne Norfleet, and Molly Workman; step-grandchildren Natalie Cruz (Rod), and Nathan (Christina) Wreyford; eight great-grandchildren; and her children's father, Jerald Workman. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, May 3, 1 pm., at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Quihi.
