Vera Catherine (Taylor) Black, age 84, of Austin passed away Friday, Sept. 19, 2008, in Austin. Vera was born June 4, 1924, in Hondo, the daughter of Elbert Caldwell and Mary Jane (Sherry) Taylor. She was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William Robert Black; and sisters, Christine White, Mildred Moebius, Bertha Marie Miller and Irene Foreman. She is survived by her son, Terry Wade Black of Columbia SC; daughter Kathleen Pantalion and husband Hollis of Austin; son, William Robert Black Jr. and wife Kit of Frisco, TX; son, Kenneth Wayne Black and wife Velda of Colorado; nine grandchildren; and sister, Mabel Baker of Uvalde. Funeral service was held Thursday, Sept. 25, 1 p.m., at the Guinn-Horger Chapel with Rev. Kenneth Wayne Black officiating. Interment was at Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section. Pallbearers were C. J. Foreman, Kenneth Black, William R. Black, Michael Black, Jeffrey Black, and Hollis Pantalion.
