Verdis N. Kite Massey Ivy, of San Antonio and Mountainburg, AR, formerly of Uvalde, passed away Thursday, June 16, 2016. She was 83. Born in Phoenix AZ, June 18, 1932, she was the daughter of Walter and Nell Kite. She had been a cook supervisor at Uvalde Memorial Hospital where she had worked more than 25 years. Verdis was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Jimmie Massey Jr. and Morris Ivy; and brother, Hubert Kite. Survivors include her son, Jimmy (Shirley) Massey of San Antonio; daughter, Bertha "Sissy" (Jim) Mehaffey of Mountainberg, AR; 11 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren; sister, Pauline Kneip; numerous nieces and nephews. Graveside service will be held Monday, June 20, at 2 p.m., at Rio Frio Cemetery. Rev. James Mehaffey of Living Waters Church, Chester AR, will officiate.
