Vernon Williams Evans, Jr. was born on August 3, 1943, in Floresville TX, to Addie Bell (Yates) Sorrell and the late Vernon Evans, Sr. He accepted Christ under the late A.S. Green at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church in Poth, TX. William attended school in both Poth and Floresville, TX. On October 12, 1964, he joined the U.S. Army and served as a Combat Engineer for 5 years 11 months reaching the rank of SGT/E5. He worked for the US Government for over 40 years as a Communications Specialist. On October 3, he departed this life at Southwest General Hospital. He was preceded in death by: (Father) Vernon Evans, (Sister) Gloria Bell Evans, (Two Brothers) Dewitt Sr. and Elton Evans. He leaves to celebrate his legacy: A loving mother Addie Bell Sorrell, one brother Arthur L. Evans, Two Aunts Tillie Yates and Edna Ferrell, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
