Vicente Hernandez

Vicente Hernandez, 96, was born Jan. 22, 1930 in D’Hanis, Texas and passed away on Aug. 3, 2026, in Conroe, Texas.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Juanita “Gina” Hernandez; his parents, Eulalio and Isidra Hernandez; son, Rene Hernandez; daughter, Rebecca Hernandez; sisters, Micaela Morin and Antonia Hernandez; and brothers, Jose Paulino Hernandez, Julian Hernandez and Jose Luis Hernandez.

Until he was in his 80s, Vicente devoted countless hours and years to the care and upkeep of D’Hanis’ San Francisco Cemetery. His knowledge of the burials, grave locations and lot owners was remarkable.

Vicente is survived by his sons, Richard Hernandez, Reginald Hernandez and wife Kelly, and Rudy Hernandez; daughters, Rose Anne Chapa and husband Bob, Cathy Hernandez and husband Steve Herod; brother, Sotero Hernandez and wife Esther of San Antonio; sister, Maria Garza of Hondo;

Also, grandchildren, David Chapa and wife Kim, Laura Turley and husband Mike, Courtney Larkin and husband James, Nicholas Hernandez, Richard Tapia, Clayton Hernandez, Sadie Darnell, Sydney Herod; and great-grandchildren, David Chapa II and wife Madelyn, Gabriel Chapa, Amelia Larkin, Catherine Larkin and Harley Tapia.

The family invites relatives and friends to join them in celebrating and honoring Vicente’s life at a Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 9, 2026, at Holy Cross Catholic Church in D’Hanis. Inurnment will be at San Francisco Cemetery, D’Hanis.
