Victor Imon "Dick" Canion, age 84, born May 31, 1922, passed away peacefully on Dec. 17, 2006, in Denton. He is survived by sisters, Estelle Van Treese of Bulverde and Geraldine Pace of Canyon Lake; son and daughter-in-law, Crague and Charlotte Canion of Denton; three married grandsons and two married granddaughters; and 13-great-grandchildren; numerous nephews, nieces and great friends. Victor was born in Goose Creek, Texas, grew to be a young man in Gonzales County, before joining the Navy in 1942 to help in defending his country. After WWII came to an end, he lived in San Antonio, Hondo, and ultimately with his son and daughter-in-law in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area. Victor was loved and respected by many for his kindness and honesty. He was truly a gentleman. Family will receive friends Wednesday, Dec. 20, 6 to 8 p.m., at Sunset Memorial Park Funeral Home. Entombment service will be at 1 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 21, at the Mausoleum at Sunset Memorial Park, 1701 Austin Hwy., San Antonio. The casket carriers were Franklin Runnels, Victor C. Canion, Jr., Cary Bohn, Keith Jaggars, Aaron Watts, Billy F. Harper. Military Honors were provided by the U.S. Navy.
