Victoria Benavides, age 90, of Hondo passed away Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2011. Born Nov. 21, 1921, in Hondo, she was the daughter of Isidor and Bonifacia (Vivero) Benavides. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Abraham Benavides; and niece, Maria Elvira Ybarra. Survivors are her sisters, Elodia Salazar of Fort Worth and Lucia Gonzalez of Hondo; nephews, Juan Gonzales of Hondo, Rogelio Gonzales of San Antonio, Paul Gonzales and wife Elida of Ingram; great-nephews, Pete Ybarra of Hondo, John Brian Gonzales and wife Tanya of North Carolina; niece, Yulissa Gonzales of Hondo; great-great-nephew, Daniel Paul Ybarra; and great-great-nieces, Stephanie Ybarra, and Cyrena Ybarra. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, Sept. 16, at the Guinn-Horger Chapel. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, at Iglesia del Nuevo Testamento, followed by interment at Hondo Cemetery, Guadalupe Section. The casket carriers were Daniel Paul Ybarra, Danny Chapa, Ricardo Benavides, A.J. Rodriguez, J.J. Cardenas, Juan B. Gonzales.
