Viola G. (Hornung) Faseler, age 85, of Yancey passed away Sunday, Aug. 14, 2011, at Community Care Center in Hondo. She was born in Rosenberg May 3, 1926, the daughter of Rev. Walter L. and Helen (Hotz) Hornung. She was a school teacher and a homemaker. Viola was preceded in death by her parents and an infant son. She is survived by her husband, Karl Henry Faseler of Yancey; sons, Kent W. Faseler and wife Ana Lucia of Leon, Mexico, and Kerry Glen Faseler and partner Bridget Monts of Sperry OK; granddaughter, Lucia Ana Faseler; sister, Darlene James and husband Tom of Houston; niece, Cathy Gayle and husband Dan; two nephews, Tom James and wife Nancy and Mark James and wife Susie; and seven great-nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Wednesday, Aug. 17, 6 to 8 p.m., at the Guinn-Horger Chapel, Hondo. Funeral service will be Thursday, Aug. 18, 10 a.m., at the Yancey United Methodist Church, followed by interment at Yancey Cemetery. The family suggests memorials may be made to the Yancey Methodist Church or the charity of one's choice.
