Virgil John Krenmueller of Hondo left this world Sunday, Jan. 10, 2021. He was 85.

Born Nov. 5, 1935, in Dunlay, he was the son of John Henry and Lela Julia Neuman Krenmueller.

Virgil leaves behind his loving wife of 64 years, Joyce Elizabeth Wurzbach Krenmueller; children, Deborah Moritz, Jean Krenmueller, and Daryl (Cynthia) Krenmueller; and grandchildren, Erik (Tracy) Moritz, Sean Moritz, Zachary (Taylor) Krenmueller and Dylan Krenmueller.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, C. J. Krenmueller.

Virgil graduated from La Coste High School in 1953. He was baptized and a lifetime member of St. Paul Lutheran Church.

He was the golf pro at Hondo Golf Course from 1966 to 1979 -– the job he most enjoyed. For the next 25 years, he owned Economy Motors in downtown Hondo.

He has been retired since 2004, enjoying traveling with Joyce and friends, playing golf, dancing at Quihi, playing cards and dominoes with friends, going on gambling trips, fishing and watching his family grow up. He also enjoyed watching westerns, golf and football on TV. Virgil continued tinkering with cars into retirement.

Visitation will be Friday, Jan. 15, 5 to 7 p.m., at Guinn-Horger Chapel.

Face coverings and social distancing are required.

Graveside service will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 16, at Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section.

The family suggests memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church or Medina County Food Pantry.
