Few shine so bright before they become stars to wish upon. Virginia Conring Arnold, age 79, of D'Hanis left in flight for the heavens on Thursday, Oct. 13, 2011, to reunite with her late husband of 54 years, Leroy Arnold Sr. A retired bookkeeper, Virginia and her husband moved to The Conring Ranch in D'Hanis, in 1995 where Virginia enjoyed gardening and playing bridge. Virginia was born to Walter Joseph and Genevieve Lair Conring in San Antonio on Sept. 26, 1932, who also preceded her in death. Virginia is survived by her son, Leroy Arnold Jr. and wife Linda of Hondo; daughters, Denise Kjos and husband Milo of San Antonio, Katny Arnold of D'Hanis and Mary Whitaker and husband Mike of San Antonio; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. The family extends their gratitude to AirEvac and EMS technicians for the kindness they showed Virginia and her family. Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 16, at Guinn-Horger Funeral Home Chapel in Hondo, with a Rosary to be recited at 6 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 17, at Holy Cross Catholic Church in D'Hanis. Interment will follow at 12:30 p.m. at San Fernando Cemetery #2 in San Antonio, where Virginia and Leroy will find the happiness they seek, when they're up together dancing cheek to cheek.
