Born in San Antonio, Aug. 16, 1931, she was the daughter of Fritz Max and Adele Bertha Herrmann Moebius. Virginia's hobby was sewing—anything from doll clothes to a wedding dress. She loved old-time country music and especially George Strait songs. She graduated from Yancey High School where she was a member of the pep squad. Prior to marriage, she worked a few years at the tax office. An active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, she held numerous offices with the Women of the Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 46 years, Raymond Charles Heiligman; brother, Preston Moebius; sister, Irene Ida Wernette; and son-in-law, Hilton Whitehead.

Survivors include her daughters, Audrey Moncada of D'Hanis, Cindy Bermea of Uvalde and Debbie Whitehead of San Antonio; grandchildren, Kristy (Daniel) Fischer, Cody Bermea, and Justin (Shauna) Moncada; great-grandchildren, A1C Isaac (Riley) Mendoza, Austin Mendoza, Jacob Moncada and Braedyn Moncada; and great-great-grandson, Jericho Mendoza.
