Virginia (Garcia) Ontiveros, age 89, of Yancey passed away Sunday, Mar. 31, 2013. Born July 31, 1923, in Hondo, she was the daughter of Sylvestre and Ignacia (Escamilla) Garcia. She was a homemaker. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jose A. Ontiveros; and brothers, Clemente, Rumaldo and Geronimo Garcia. She is survived by son, Jose Ontiveros Jr. and wife Lydia of Hondo; son, Andrew Ontiveros and wife Carolina of Yancey; daughter, Inez Solis and husand John of Kerrville; 14 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., with Rosary recited at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Apr. 2, at the Guinn-Horger Chapel. Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Apr. 3, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Hondo, followed by interment at Yancey Cemetery. Pallbearers were Jerry Garza II, Jon Erik Garza, Michael Ontiveros, Gerard L. Ontiveros, David R. Ontiveros, Isaac Garza, Joel Ontiveros and James J. Ontiveros.
