Virginia Grace
Stripe Stevens
August 29, 1922 – June 18, 2022
Virginia Grace Stripe Stevens of Fredericksburg, formerly of Hondo, passed away on June 18, 2022. Virginia was born in Van Wert, Ohio, on August 29, 1922.
She was preceded in death by her parents (Emmett and Ethel Stripe), twin brothers (Robert and Richard Stripe), husband (Lawrence Grant Stevens) and her great-granddaughter, Katie Lynn Stevens.
Her husband, Larry, was in the military for 24 years and worked for Civil Service for 16 years. They moved many times during those years but finally settled in San Antonio. After retiring, they moved to the Hondo area where Virginia resided until 2021.
Virginia was a member of the Hondo Garden Club, Hondo Chapter #404 Eastern Star, New Fountain United Methodist Church, Daughters of the American Revolution, First Families of Ohio, Settlers and Builders of Ohio, and Civil War Families.
Survivors include: son, Grant Stevens (wife Gail) of Ft Worth, Texas; daughters, Beth Ann Hutchins (husband Danny) of Wichita, Kansas and Kathy Jones (husband Bob) of Fredericksburg, Texas; grandchildren, Michael Stevens (wife Nara), Mark Stevens (wife Michelle), Steven Hill (fiancée Kelly), Stephanie Miller, Donald Hutchins, Rebecca Cuthbertson and Shannon Pigott; great-grandchildren, Kinsey Stevens, Kendyl Stevens, Clay Stevens (wife Elle), Cade Stevens, Courtney Stevens, Logan Hill (fiancée Chrislynn), Kolyn Hill, Porter Hutchins and Madilyn Hutchins; great-great-grandchildren, Averleigh Hill and Weston Cuthbertson.
Visitation will be Sunday, June 26, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Guinn-Horger Funeral Home Chapel and Monday, June 27, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Monday. The celebration of her life will begin at 11:00 a.m. At Virginia's request, the graveside service will be for family only.
The family requests that memorials be given to New Fountain Methodist Church Memorial Fund in Virginia's memory or to the charity of your choice.
