Vivian Paine Smith of Hondo, 104, passed awayThursday, July 27, 2017. Vivian Sally Mattie Paine was born in Christine, Texas, Sept. 1, 1912, the daughter of Robert Louis and Lena Texie Jarrell Paine. She was an especially good cook. After her children left home, she went to work at the Meyer school cafeteria where she enjoyed her work and especially the children. She always made time to play with grandchildren and great-grandchildren. After her husband's death, she lived alone until she fell and broke an ankle in 2012.
