On Sunday, June 14, 2020, Wanda Marie Zapata Garza of Hondo passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by those she loved. She was 70.

Wanda enjoyed a rich and wonderful life with her husband and children, traveling, and volunteering with her church. She loved singing, dancing, cooking and, most of all, she loved laughing with her family.

Born in Corpus Christi TX, July 10, 1949, she was the daughter of Juan and Angelita Enriquez Zapata. She was preceded in death by her parents as well as her brother, Louis Zapata, and sisters, Yolanda Barrera and Janice Zapata.

Survivors include her husband, Adolfo Garza; sons, Bruce McLaren of Corpus Christi, Jason (Christine) Solis of Green Bay WI, and Michael Solis of Hondo; daughter, Angela Solis of Hondo; grandchildren, Megan McLaren and Brandon Solis, Dianna and Jacob Solis, Celina Solis, and Ever Marynda Bautista; brothers, Alfonso Zapata (Gloria) of Maryland and Aaron Zapata (Rosie) of Corpus Christi; and sisters, Alba Sewell (Bruce) and Lydia Lazo, all of Florida.

Visitation at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Hondo will be Friday, June 19, at 10 a.m., followed by recitation of the Rosary at 10:30 and Mass at 11:00 a.m.

Interment will be Saturday, June 20, 1:00 p.m., at Seaside Memorial Park, 4357 Ocean Drive, in Corpus Christi TX 78412.
