Wesley Noble Butler passed away Saturday, May 18, 2013, in Hondo. He was born Dec.16, 1934, in Gorman, TX, and grew up in De Leon. Wesley enjoyed a long and proud career with the Texas Department of Public Safety and fully retired in 2008 with just under 50 years of service. He was first a Trooper II in Drivers License before he partially retired from the DPS in 1992 and took another job with the DPS as a Motor Vehicle Inspector in San Antonio. He was known around Hondo for his wit, unique character and great sense of humor. He was a very talented musician. Every weekend he played the steel and lead guitar for Arkey Blue at the Silver Dollar in Bandera, until he quit in 1993 to spend more time with his family. Wesley was preceded in death by his son, Wesley Allen Butler; parents, Roy and Hattie Butler; and sister, Juanita Hudson. He is survived by his daughter, Denise Butler of McKinney; son, Timothy "Bucky" Butler of Canyon Lake; longtime girlfriend, Betty Anderwald of Bandera; stepdaughter, Dawn Adams of Canyon Lake; grandson, James Curtis of McKinney; former wife, Carol Butler of San Antonio; grandchildren, Krystal and Carl Magaro; step-grandchildren, Chelsea and Cody Adams; and sister, Marie Morris of De Leon. A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, May 28, at the Guinn-Horger Chapel.
