Willa D. (Prichard) Been, age 88, of Hondo, passed away Thursday, May 16, 2013. Born Nov. 13, 1924, in Wichita Falls, she was the daughter of William Wesley and Billie Alton (Booth) Prichard. A loving homemaker, she enjoyed playing the piano, painting, drawing, gardening, cooking, and was a very active member of First Baptist Church. Willa is preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Jack Been; her parents; her stepfather who raised her, Benjamin S. Hipp; sister, Lilla M. Prichard-Gant; and brothers, Booth T. Prichard and Wesley Prichard. Surviving are her daughter, Barbara J. White and husband Bruce; sons, John Michael Been and wife Lynette and James A. Been; grandchildren, Joe D. Bailey, Jon D. Bailey, Justin M. Been and Jillian M. Been; and three great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Sunday, May 19, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Guinn-Horger Chapel. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, May 20, at First Baptist Church in Hondo. Interment will be at Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section. Bearers are Joe D. Bailey, Jon D. Bailey Justin M. Been and Louis W. Haby. The family suggests memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the First Baptist Church/Hondo Building Fund.
