William John Silvers, age 59, of rural Hondo, known to family and friends as John, went home to be with our Lord on Wednesday, June 6, 2007. He was born June 23, 1947, in Sabinal, Texas, to William H. and Linnie M. (Havins) Silvers, who precede him in death. His family moved to Devine when he was two. Having graduated from Devine High School, he worked his way through college and received his BBA in 1975, and became a Certified Public Accountant in 1985. He worked several years with the Texas Department of Public Transportation, but in 1987 began his first private practice which eventually led him to Port Lavaca. He, along with his wife, served many clients and made many friends during the last 11 years there. Survivors are his wife, Emily (Haby) Silvers; son, William A. Silvers and wife Janyne and their children, Emily, Abby and Matthew, of Sussex, WI; daughter, Christina Silvers of Oralndo, FL; brother, James E. Silvers and wife Irmgard of San Jose, CA; and sister, Ella Louise (Silvers) Breiten of Castroville; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held at Guinn-Horger Chapel, 10 a.m., Saturday, June 9, with Rev. Ron Stringfellow officiating. Interment will follow at Hondo Cemetery, St. John's Section. Pallbearers are George Young, Byron Carr, Travis Bennett, Jack DeVault, Gaylen Webb, and Wayne Tenney.
