Ysidro Mares Sr., age 89, of Hondo passed away Friday, June 19, 2015. Born May 15, 1926, in Hondo, he was the son of Jose Mares and Concepción Perez Mares. He worked for the railroad, the City of Hondo and retired after working at Hondo Lumber Company. He was a hardworking man who loved spending time with his wife. He is preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Evangelina Cuellar and Gregoria Zavala. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Guadalupe Vosquez Mares; daughters, Eva (Edward) Garcia and Elisia (Rudy) Garcia; sons, Ysidro (Rose Mary) Mares Jr. and Robert (Aurelia) Mares; grandchildren, Kristina Diaz, Andrew Garcia, Joe Anthony Garcia, Ysidro Mares III, Leticia Rodriguez, Robert Mares Jr., Danny Mares and Kevin Andrew Mares; great-grandchildren, Johnathon Diaz, Katalina Diaz, Brooklyn Garcia, Aidan Mares, Diego Armando Mares and Marcos Mares; and sisters, Dominga Garza and Pascuala Ontiveros. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. and Rosary will be recited Monday, June 22, 7 p.m., at Guinn-Horger Chapel. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Tuesday, June 23, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section.
